Jeanne is an advocate for the health and well-being of older adults in Hamilton.  Using her expertise as a human rights advocate and her leadership skills, she applies her knowledge to influence policies and practices at the municipal and community levels to improve the quality of life of older adults in Hamilton.

Jeanne volunteers for the Hamilton Council on Aging.  She has represented the Council at many information fairs promoting issues concerning older adults.  Further, she helped to design and deliver many of the Let’s Take the Bus workshops over the past 7 years.  She is a member of the Education and Advocacy Committee and in that capacity, she has written opinion editorials and participated in delivering workshops on pedestrian safety. 

Working with the City of Hamilton and the Hamilton Council on Aging she was instrumental in the development and implementation of the 2014-2019 Age-friendly Plan.   More recently, as a member of the Committee, she was actively involved in the development of the 2021-2016 Age-friendly Plan, assisting in conducting some of the 29 focus groups with older adults, service providers and City staff to learn about the barriers and opportunities to making Hamilton age-friendly.  Further, as a committee member, she helped to oversee the development of the 2021-2026 Plan and has taken on the role of goal champion for the transportation dimension going forward.

Jeanne is also a member of the Seniors Advisory Committee for the City of Hamilton.  In that capacity, she leads a transportation sub-committee to provide advice to City Council on issues related to transportation and older adults. Jeanne’s strong leadership skills have enabled her to work tirelessly for the benefit of older adults in the Hamilton region and to make Hamilton a more age-friendly city.
